The small village of Massa Macinaia is located south of Lucca. This place got its name because of the watermills with which the grain was ground. These mills still partially exist today.
Il Frantoio is a ground floor apartment and has been completely restored in the last year. It is located in an old oil mill that produced olive oil many years ago. This Tuscan oil has become widely known. This oil mill was divided into several apartments. To the mentioned apartment belongs a garden of 500 smq, for the exclusive use of the guest. However not fenced. It is located 20 meters from the apartment. The garden is lovingly maintained.
Each part of this apartment is reminiscent of the oil processing and there are still some parts, that have been restored, manteined in its unique style. The walls of the apartment are partly filled with the natural stones.
The external entrance door leads to a large living room with sofa, a TV \ Sat.

There is also a large refrigerator with ice compartment, which is installed in an old olive press. The kitchen is a typical Tuscan fitted kitchen, with oven, dishwasher, gas stove with 4 plates, toaster, coffee machine etc.
The two double rooms are typically furnished with double beds and large closets. As in all the apartment there are beamed ceilings, terracotta tiles and the typical Tuscan windows.
The bathroom (complete with shower) is slightly elevated after three steps and you have a space nearby with washing machine.
This apartment is ideal for going for a walk in the area or for exploring the easily accessible Tuscan cities of art.
It is the ideal choice for guests who would like to get to know Tuscany and the quiet country life, without having to give up the amenities of the nearby tourist centers. Lucca city center is just 5 km away. Nearby you will find restaurants, shops, bank, etc.
During the summer months, many events take place in Lucca, from classical concerts and Puccini operas to the pop and rock concerts of the Summer Festival. It should also be noted that the entire zone (called "Compitese") is famous for its camellia breeding: every year at the end of March, an important camellia exhibition takes place. The gardens of the region are opened and made accessible to the public. There, the interested visitor can admire the rare breed of this flower.
